WHY IMPERFECTION STILL MATTERS IN MUSIC

Hey friends,

I wanted to share something a little more personal this week.

I just uploaded a new video where I bring you inside the studio as I work on a brand new song called “Hanging By a Thread.” It’s a behind-the-scenes look at the recording process — rough edges, vintage microphones, honest performances, and all.

This session took place at Wavelength Studio, a space that’s been sacred to me for nearly 30 years. I’m working with my longtime friend and mentor Jason Carter — someone who’s shaped not just my music, but my life as an artist.

The video is also a reflection on something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately:

Perfection isn’t music.
Excellence is.

In a time where AI can generate flawless tracks in seconds, I wanted to document what human music creation actually looks like — imperfect, emotional, and deeply real.
