🎙 Behind the Studio Door: 4 Songs, 4 Creative Truths
Inside Thousand Echoes Studio — where chaos becomes music, and creativity finds a way.

Hey Everyone,
Today, I’m inviting you into Thousand Echoes Studio—not with some polished, ready-for-radio brag, but with the messy, beautiful, and brutally honest truth of what it’s like to be a working parent trying to chase lightning between lunch boxes and nap time.
I’ve got four songs sitting on my hard drive right now—all in wildly different stages of becoming. And each one is teaching me something unexpected about the creative process.
Let’s get into it:

The Accident: Screenshot of a video where I’m laying down an idea.
🎯 The Accident: When Inspiration Hijacks Your Morning
Picture this: Tuesday morning. Kids eating breakfast. Then—WHAM—a riff drops in from the ether.
No time to prep. No mic stand. Just grab the guitar and hit record on the iPhone.
That’s how this heavy, Queens of the Stone Age-inspired riff came to life on my Airline Map baritone. Rough as hell, but the whole thing—melody, feel, arrangement—was already there in my head.
Here’s the truth:
The songwriter’s superpower isn’t perfection.
It’s the ability to recognize potential inside the imperfect.

The Rabbit Hole: one of my favorite workflows for writing a new song.
🌀 The Rabbit Hole: When Your Studio Becomes Your Co-Writer
Two hours. Both kids asleep. A gift.
I opened up a blank Logic session with zero expectations. Just sound. Just space.
What came out was something I’m calling Boards of Electronics—my love letter to Boards of Canada and Thom Yorke. A moody, cinematic vortex built from textures and intuition.
I discovered three new techniques and uncovered sounds I didn’t even know my studio could make.
Lesson:
Exploration time is never wasted.
Especially when you don’t know where it’s going.

The Naked Truth: sometimes simple equals finished.
🕊 The Naked Truth: When Less Becomes More
“Ageless” took three to four months to finish.
It’s stripped-down. Honest. A meditation on unconditional love.
No loops. No tricks. Just a guitar, a vocal, and space to feel.
This one reminded me:
Finishing isn’t about adding more.
It’s about knowing when something is already enough.

Morning Bells Session: Alex, Josh, and Jarred
đź’ˇ The Revelation: When Everything Clicks
And then there’s the one that started it all…
The first track from Morning Bells—a new project I’m building with my longtime brother-in-sound, Jarred Venti and our incredible friends John McConnell, and Alex Callenberger.
5 (very short) years ago, it was just a voice memo. Today, it’s ready to be mastered. A full transformation, tracked right here at Thousand Echoes Studio.
This is the moment when all the layers, all the effort, and all the little sparks come together and say:
“Yeah, this is it.”

What This Means for Your Creative Life
Whether you’re raising kids, working full-time, or juggling both—these four songs reminded me of something vital:
Creativity doesn’t need perfect conditions.
It needs your presence in whatever moment you can grab.
Sometimes it’s an accident that hijacks your morning.
Sometimes it’s a rabbit hole when time finally opens up.
Sometimes it’s the vulnerable whisper that takes months to reveal itself.
And sometimes—if you keep showing up—it all clicks.
Your Turn
I want to hear from you:
Which of these four creative modes resonates with your process right now?
Are you an Accident Catcher, always ready when the muse crashes through?
Do you disappear down Rabbit Holes, chasing sounds into the unknown?
Are you sitting with Naked Truths, slowly revealing what matters?
Or are you on the edge of your own Revelation?
Hit reply and let me know. I read every message—and your stories often fuel my next creative deep dive.
Keep making art in the margins.
